Here's a list of my top 5 favorite books
1. The Perks of Being a Wallflower

This book is narrated by a young man named Charlie who is about to start his first year of high school. He is introverted and unpopular.  His best friend Michael committed suicide a month earlier, leaving him completely alone. Charlie does eventually meet two upperclassmen, Sam and Patrick, who befriend him and teach him about what it means to be a true friend. The story is written through letters addressed to anonymous person that Charlie says he found randomly.

2. Parachute Infantry: An American Paratrooper's Memoir of D-Day and the Fall of the Third Reich

The memoir recounts David Webster's time with the 506th Parachute Infantry. Webster was a Harvard student at the time the U.S. declared war on Japan and like many other men during this time he felt the need to step forward to fight for his country. Given his family's status he could have chosen become an officer, but insisted on remaining a private.

3.Blind Sighted

This story is told by a junior in high school named Kirk Tobak. Kirk is a loner and lives with his mother on the "wrong " side of the tracks. He's smart but lazy and consequently is put in an English class for what he calls "burnouts". There he begins to make new friends and on the side he finds a job reading to a blind woman. Things start to go well until his mother goes off to California without him.

4. The Last Child

He explores his hometown, a place with a long history of violence. His journey is at times terrifying, but he continues to search. Every chapter is both exciting and terrifying and will keep you on edge until the very end.
